ABOUT US

The Baha’is in Jefferson County formed a Local Spiritual Assembly in 1996, when the number of
adult believers reached nine. Since then, we have maintained an active Assembly every year—
the second locality in the State (after Charleston) to have been able to do so. Since there is no
clergy in the Baha’i Faith, the Local Spiritual Assembly is responsible for the spiritual wellbeing of the
Jefferson County Baha’i community, as well as its administrative affairs.

Many of our activities are held at our Baha’i Center, located in Ranson, WV at 308 So. Buchannan
Street. The building became our home in 2007. The public is warmly invited to join us here for a devotional gathering each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. On Nov. 1, 2015, a Children’s Class for children between the ages of 5 and 10, was established. The Children’s Class currently meets at 10:00 a.m.  (For other activities, please see our calendar, elsewhere on this website.)

Our meditation garden was developed from property annexed in 2010. Where there was once
a homestead, all that remains is the silver maple tree that shaded a cottage, and a concrete
block shelter which was once a horse stable. Now the garden invites passersby to enjoy quiet
contemplation.

Come and grow with us!
