The Bahá’í Community sponsors events for youth. Youth are encouraged to develop a strong sense of purpose, empowering their own transformation and leading them to contribute to the advancement of society. Young people’s spiritual capacity, the basis for their own happiness and sense of well-being, is a powerful force for social change.
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program unites young people in a setting in which they can discuss ideas and form a strong moral identity. Those between the ages of 12 and 15 are a special group with a natural desire to contribute to the well-being of their community, and have a great potential to carry out acts of service that lead toward positive social change. They are capable of thinking deeply about the world and their place in it. These groups are guided by older youth who serve as “animators,” motivating the group to strive towards excellence of character and service.

“We cannot segregate the human heart from the environment outside us and say that once one of these is reformed everything will be improved. Man is organic with the world. His inner life moulds the environment and is itself also deeply affected by it. The one acts upon the other and every abiding change in the life of man is the result of these mutual reactions.” ( Shoghi Effendi, 1933)
